One pick, with the reason
Most of the decisions in a day are small, and they are the ones that wear people down. What to eat after a long shift. What to watch when everyone is too tired to choose. Where six friends should go tonight, asked in a group chat that goes quiet for an hour and ends with "anywhere is fine." Nobody is short of options. Every app on her phone hands her forty of them, ranked and filtered and starred, and gives the work straight back to her.
People do not decide by reading a list. They talk it through. Someone says "not pizza again," someone says "somewhere close," and the answer they wanted was already there before the conversation started; the back and forth only brought it out. So FlickChoice does what a good friend does. She tells Flick what she is in the mood for, in her own words. Flick asks one thing if it needs to, then gives her one pick and the reason for it: you asked for cheap and no pizza, it is close, it is open, and Mediterranean is on your list. If the pick is wrong, she says no, and Flick learns as much from the no as from the yes.
The group chat gets the same treatment. One person starts a vote and drops the link, and everyone else picks from their own phone in about a minute, with nothing to download. The decision that used to eat an evening takes one round.
The hardest choices happen at the place itself, standing at a counter in front of a menu she has never seen. She takes a photo of the menu, and Flick picks from what is actually in front of her. Every menu someone adds helps the next person who walks in, and Flick tells them so.
FlickChoice is free, all of it, and not as a launch offer. A pick is only worth anything when it is right, and it gets right one town at a time, getting better for everyone in that town. Its map of places comes from open data loaded into our own system, and its menus come from people who chose to share them. We never scrape, and Flick never needs to know more about her than what she picks.
Underneath, FlickChoice is how Y, the brain under all our products, learns to pick well: from corrections, the yes and the no, never from anyone's private life. A helper that decides well cannot be downloaded ready made. It is built one small decision at a time.
Food first, then films, then the rest. One pick, with the reason.
